Europa está en Beethoven

Hace un par de días estuve en Munich. Ahora mismo se está celebrando la fiesta más conocida de la ciudad, y probablemente de toda Alemania, el Oktoberfest. Esta fiesta tradicional atrae anualmente unos seis millones de visitantes, y hasta el 4 de Octubre celebra su 176 edición. La fiesta, que ha sido interrumpida varias veces a lo largo de la historia debido a guerras, epidemias, etcétera, se inició en 1810 para celebrar el matrimonio de Luis I de Baviera con Teresa de Sajonia-Altenburgo, y es mundialmente famosa por los litros y litros de cerveza que se sirven. Tengo que decir, no obstante, que el Oktoberfest es en realidad una fiesta para toda la familia, con multitud de puestos de comida típica baviera, dulces como "Lebkuchenherzen", y muchas atracciones para pasar un buen rato, desde montañas rusas hasta espectáculos de mostertrucks.

Además de ver un poquito del centro de Munich (que por cierto, es completamente nuevo, debido a la II Guerra Mundial), pude ver a Caro, una de mis queridas compañeras de cocina erasmus.



A few days ago, I was in Munich, where right now is being celebrated the world famous Oktoberfest, the biggest celebration in Munich and Germany. This traditional festivity attracts annually six millions of visitants, and it will last until the 4th of October. The Oktoberfest has been interrupted several times along the history, mostly because of wars or epidemics. This year the 176th edition is running, but the first one was in 1810, to celebrate the marriage of Ludwig I. of Bayern to Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Oktoberfest is famous, of course, because of the beer. But I have to say that the Oktoberfest is not only beer, but also a festivity for the whole family, with a lot of food, sweets, attractions as rollercoasters and even a monstertruck show. And of course, "Lebkuchenherzen" (very bavarian).

Besides taking a look at Munich (which is completely new because of the II World War, by the way), I met Caro, one of my lovely kitchen girls in Fantoft, Bergen, while my Erasmus.
